The UN SDG Action Awards are organized by the UN SDG Action Campaign, a special inter-agency initiative of the UN Secretary General mandated to scale up, broaden and sustain the global movement of action for the SDGs.

This year, the UN SDG Action Awards are launched amidst a global health emergency which shines a light in the need for collaboration and a coordinated response at all levels of governments. The global pandemic also gives us an opportunity to remind us how the 2030 Agenda and the 17 SDGs can serve as a roadmap to make front to the crisis with joint action.

The 2020 edition is seeking creative, scalable and transformative initiatives worldwide that:

• Mobilize large numbers of individuals and organizations to take action for the achievement of the global goals, while building coalitions across communities and societies.
• Inspire people to change behaviours and policies for the achievement of the SDGs while promoting the values of hope and solidarity
• Connect partners to increase progress while strengthening dialogue and trust between people and institution at all levels.

People and organisations everywhere are encouraged to submit their outstanding SDG Action and nominate to become one of the UN SDG Action Award winners. The winning initiatives will be honoured at the UN SDG Action Awards Ceremony at the UN Headquarters in New York City, and widely amplified throughout the year to inspire the growing global SDG Action community to accelerate change for people and the planet.
