The Japanese Ministry of Environment,  and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), with the support of the UNFCCC, have launched the Online Platform for Sustainable and Resilient Recovery from COVID-19 – Platform for Redesign 2020. The platform is a hub that collates countries’ climate and other environmental policies and actions that are planned and implemented in the context of recovery from COVID-19.

Building on the 11th Petersberg Climate Dialogue and the UNFCCC’s June Momentum for Climate Change, the platform showcases information on policies and actions taken by national governments to contribute to a sustainable and resilient recovery from COVID-19. It also features inspiring messages from national leaders and ministers, as well as non-state stakeholders, who remain critical to achieving transformative change.

The Regions4 Presidency has launched a statement in support for this initiative and the importance of achieving a sustainable and resilient recovery, as stated in the Regions4 Declaration.

“The Regions4 constituency is committed to making the most of our core values of diversity, collaboration, solidarity, closeness, ownership, accountability, and leadership to jointly work and contribute to the global recovery. […] We reaffirm our conviction that working collectively for sustainable development from a multi-level governance approach, is the best tool to respond to the pandemic. The future of our planet depends on it.” – Ms. Elena Moreno, Regions4 President
