We continue to share the actions of RegionsAdapt members to tackle climate change. This month we share Sao Paulo’s Nascentes Program.

After a severe water crisis that affected the State of São Paulo in 2014 and 2015, the “Nascentes” Program (Water Spring Recovery Program) was created with the objective of promoting the recomposition of native vegetation in priority areas, especially riparian forests. With a strong focus on partnerships, the Program integrates specialists in forest restoration and entrepreneurs with legal obligations. More than 24 million trees were planted in 227 municipalities and currently, there are 13 thousand hectares in the process of restoration.
